Abstract
Human tear proteins serve many roles to maintain the health and intergrity of the preocular tear film and ocular surface environment. The proportion of tear proteins can be changed markedly in various ocular diseases. We studied concentration of TSP[tear-specific prealbumin] in normal subjects and diabetic patients. These studies was also done in group that had less than 10 years of diabetes and group that had more than 10 years of diabetes. We evaluated the association between the diabetes and the proportion of tear proteins and these evaluation was also done between the duration of diabetes and TSP. We analysed concentration of TSP from 30 diabetic patients. 30 normal subjects were used as age-matched controls. As a result, the concentration of TSP in diabetic group is lower than that in normal group and the concentration of TSP in diabetic group that had more than 10 years of diabetes is lower than that in diabetic group that had less than 10 years of diabetes.
