Abstract
The major reason of subnormal vision in primary school children was caused by the refractive errors and it has been a common fact that the myopia is majority among them. In this regard, the authors have accessed the visual acuity and the refractive status of 2, 163 primary school children in Seoul, Chungju, and Anseong and have reviewed the questioning papers which were filled by their parents. The children with subnormal vision[0.7 or less] were 26.1%[564] rated, and number was increased in higher school grade. In 1, 101 eyes with subnormal vision, the refractive errors were made up of the 908[82.5%] myopic eyes, the 95[8.6%] hyperopic eyes, the 57[5.2%] mixed astigmatic eyes, and 41[3.7%] emmetropic eyes. Proportions of the myopia were increased in higher school grade, while those of the hyperopia and the mixed astigmatism were decreased in higher school grade.
