Abstract |
The effects of methyl cellulose(3%, 4%) and Healon(R) in patients undergoing extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation were compared in regard to the operative efficiency and postoperative reactions namely, inflammation, intraocular pressure, and corneal endothelial damage. During the course of the cataract operations, five eyes received 3% methyl cellulose, 5 received 4% methyl celulose, and 6 received Healon(R). The methyl cellulose(3%, 4%) and Healon(R) were all aspirated from anterior and posterior chambers by means of the irrigation aspiration system at the end of the procedure. There was no significant difference in operative efficiency and postoperative reactions between methyl cellulose (3%, 4%) group and Healon(R) group. |
