Abstract |
Central serous chorioretinopathy [CSC] is a retinal disorder which typically affects young and middle-aged men. Therefore extensive informations are available about the clinical features in men,yet little is known in women. We reviewed the medical records of female CSC patients, in terms of age distribution, clinical features, fluorecein angiographic findings, and effect of laser photocoagulation treatment. Their mean age was 39.5 years, and blurred vision was the most common presenting symptom. Most cases were idiopathic type. Fluorescein angiography showed solitary leak, in upper nasal side of macula, and ink blot type, most frequently. Laser photocoagulation was effective to lessen the duration of retinal detachment and to lower the recurrence rate. According to these results, the clinical features of CSC in women is similar to that in men, and we also expect favorable results of laser photocoagulation treatment in women. |
